The Five Pillars of Wealth Building

  • 1.) Know Your Numbers

    Understand your income and your monthly expenses. Do this in whatever way makes sense for you, a spreadsheet, pen and paper, apps, or online calculators. Just get it done!

  • 2.) Build an Emergency Fund

    The goal should be 3-6 months of expenses. Don’t let this stress you out, start with a small goal, like saving $500-1,000.

  • 3.) Tackle High Interest Debt

    As eager wealth builders we want to jump straight into investing, but the stock market, for example, returns an average of 8% interest. So if you have debt that’s charging 10% interest it will off set your investments. Don’t hustle backwards.

  • 4.) Automate

    The best investors are the lazy ones. Automate your savings, debt payoffs, and investments.

  • 5.) Invest

    Boring is good! You don’t need to invest in the newest shiniest thing, most investors start with their 401k (an employer sponsor retirement plan).
